Burbank Can Trust Local Tap Water
Burbank residents can trust their local water supply and may limit their need to stockpile water. Emergency preparedness encourages a two-week supply in the case of a major disruption in water sources; however, in this situation, emergency water supplies are not a concern.

Burbank’s Water is Treated to Protect the Public from Viruses and Harmful Bacteria
BWP operates a water-treatment plant with filtration technologies that remove contaminants so Burbank residents can enjoy safe, high-quality drinking water. Chlorine is used to disinfect the water to protect against microorganisms such as viruses, bacteria, and fungus.
Tap water is regulated for safety by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and must meet stringent state and federal drinking water quality standards. Water treatment plants that provide water must be tested multiple times per day. Every water provider within our region and the country at large is required to provide customers with detailed water quality reports to assure EPA compliance.

Burbank Tap Water is Safe for Washing Hands
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends washing your hands often to protect yourself against COVID-19. The use of Burbank tap water with soap and proper handwashing techniques is an effective means of removing germs. If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
