How the Green Choice Program May Affect Your Bill

As part of the Green Choice Program, you will pay an additional 1.8 cents over your regular residential rate.

Here's how that might look for you:

Your Commitment to Participating for the Entire Program Period is Important

Green Choice Program participants will pay an additional 1.8 cents over their regular residential rate for all electricity that they use. Residential customers who enroll between now and March 31, 2023, will be placed on the Green Choice Program rate two to three business days following the date the application was submitted. Customers are committed to participating in the program until December 31, 2023.

Your participation in the program’s entire program period is important so that BWP knows how much renewable energy credits (RECs) can be purchased and we have time to acquire it on your behalf. Once BWP knows how many people have opted-in to the Green Choice Program, our energy traders will go out and acquire the renewable energy credits. RECs for this program will be certified by the State as renewable and will be required to be generated or transmitted to California.

Participants will automatically be enrolled in the next year's program unless they opt-out. You can opt-out any time before October 1st to be excluded from the next year's program. The charges will no longer appear on your bill after December 31st.
