Contest Theme
Illustrate water-wise and efficient use:
• Home, school, community, business, industry, agriculture, recreation
• Emphasize conservation, stewardship, climate change impacts
• Bold, bright colors work best; less text is better

Artwork Guidelines
• All work must be original (no tracing or copyrighted/trademarked characters).
• Students may not use images generated through AI platforms.
• Avoid spelling errors (art with misspellings will be disqualified)
• May depict:
- Conservation/stewardship actions
- Climate change impacts
- Water use in home, school, business, nature, agriculture, recreation, or hygiene
• Artwork must be 12” X 18” or 8.5” X 11” in size (under/oversized artwork may not be eligible) and drawn on WHITE poster board or WHITE drawing paper (no lines).
• Artwork drawn on 12” X 18” paper must have a one-inch white or blank border on all four sides. This is a graphics and framing requirement.
• Artwork must be drawn HORIZONTALLY (e.g., oriented 16” horizontally and 10” vertical). Vertical artwork may not be eligible.
Recognition
• 36 artworks will be selected by MWD for 2027 calendar & digital library
• Selected artists honored at December 2026 recognition event
• All selected art becomes property of Metropolitan and may be used in digital or printed materials, including but not limited to the website, social media, annual reports and a traveling art gallery.
Submission Requirements
Metropolitan now requires artwork submission in two formats: Printed and Digital
Printed: Please submit the original file.
Digital File Specifications
- Format: Landscape
- Resolution: 300 dpi TIFF (minimum 240 ppi or 5 MP)
How to Submit
When submitting your artwork, you must include all four items mentioned below:

☑ A digital copy of your artwork
☑ The completed Student Information Card
• The student must select a teacher from their current school whom they would like to recognize.
☑ The signed Parent Approval Form
